CANADIAN KENNEL CLUB SPECIAL NOTICE
Recent Breed Restrictions in the Province of Ontario, Canada.
Following the introduction of Breed Specific Legislation in the
Province of Ontario, there has been concern expressed by many of our
International and U.S friends who may be planning to show in Canada this
year. We would like to make clear the situation as we know it.
While there may be local Municipal By-Law restrictions in various
cities and towns across Canada, restrictions because of Bill 132 only
apply to the Province of Ontario.
The two CKC recognized breeds targeted are the Staffordshire
Bull Terrier and the American Staffordshire Terrier.
Bill 132 will come into effect late summer 2005 and there are provisions
in the Regulations to exempt both resident and non-resident dogs entered
in Shows and Events from some elements of the Act.
Please review the attached notice and for additional information
regarding the Canadian Kennel Club please refer to our website
www.ckc.ca
For further clarification of the details of the Act refer to the website
of Attorney General Michael Bryant at www.attorneygeneral.jus.gov.ca
